Psy
was relatively unknown until his insanely viral smash “Gangnam Style”
the most liked video (upwards of a billion) on YouTube hit the airwaves.
Psy seems to want the single dead now; he thinks the song is too
popular.
“The song became too popular, and so you start to have some concern about its life period,” he told MTV News.
Psy
performed the infectious partystarter on “man-hood Clark’s New Year’s
Rockin’ Eve,” which just so happened to be his birthday. “Being in Times
Square on New Year’s Eve is already special — it’s the biggest stage in
the universe — plus it’s my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the
ending of ‘Gangnam Style,’” he says. “I mean, what better way to do it?
It’s my biggest and most meaningful birthday,” Psy said.
The
Korean pop performer also has big plans for 2013, including another
single he assures will be a hit. “I’m really working hard on a new
single right now, and I’m not saying ['Gangnam'] is ending on ‘man-hood
Clark’ — I still have a lot of invitations to perform it … I’ll be in
Paris, and in February I got invited to perform in China, and I’ve still
got to do promo.”
For now, maybe we all should let the Gangnam record breathe in the new year before Psy unleashes another banger.
